From Friday's Dw'Ul-Yesterday a funeral party arrived in Decatur and registered at the St. Nicholas Hotel. It comprised John Orr, aged 74;A. M. Orr, Prank Orr and wife,3L L. Orr and wife, John G. Orr and wife, and David Orr, all of Mfc. Sterling, III, and Wm, Orr and wife, and George Seaborne and wife, all of Perry, 111. These parlies were accompanied to the city by the remains of Mrs. Orr, who died recentlyat the age of 101 years. Sho was the mother of the Orr brothers and Mrs. Seaborne. Tho remains were to be takento Deerfield, Ohio, for burial, and at ten o'clock tho party got on the street car at the hotel to go to the depot to go east on the Wabash train at 10:40. At the New Deming Hotel a Christian church preacher named Rev, Hoddy, whose home is at Atwood, in Douglas county, got ou the car. He was accompanied by four ladies. While the party was leaving the car at the Union depot John Orr was relieved of his pocket-book containing $42 in cash and a through ticket to Columbus, Ohio.Ho felt somebody going through his pocket and cried out for help, but owing to the darkness and the jostling crowd, he was unable to hold the party or identify him afterward. Naturally tho bold iliefb created a decided sensation, and it was sometime afterward before a policeman could be found. On the way to the depot Rcy. Hodcly offered John Ward, the street car driver, a live dollar bill, but as Jolm had no change to take out pay for the party of live, the preacher said lie would pay on arriving at the depot. The peculiar actions of the preacher after ho left the car caused the Orr party to look upon him with suspicion, and sometime after the robbery was committed Hey. Eortdy was searched for the stolen money and ticket. He stoutly protested his innocence, nod became very indignant. A close search was made,1ml without finding the stolen articles. The preacher wasihen released,A general skirmish was next made for some other party to search, but without success. The Orr party left the city on the Wabash train for Ohio, the old man taking occasion to denounce the unknown party who had robbed him in emphaticterms,John Ward says that in thB excitement the preacher went away without paying h the fare promised. * J h
