PURCHASECARA RECORDSCAPITOL/EMI LATIN will purchase TEX-MEX label, CARA RECORDS, from owner and President ROBERT GREVER, pending final signatures, it was announced today by JOSE BEHAR, Vice President and general manager, CAPITOL/EMI LATIN. The agreement will become effective January 1,1991.Based in San Antonio, Texas, CARA RECORDS is a leading TEX-MEX label with an impressive roster that features such artists as FIEBRE, EXELENCI A, EMILIONAVAIRA, DAVID MARES, LATIN BREED AND LA MAFIA (through their current contract) as well as an extensive catalogue. These artists will complement CAPITOL/EMI LATIN’S current TEX-MEX LINE -UP WHICH INCLUDES MAZZ, SELENA Y LOS DINOS, DAVID LEE GARZA Y LOS MUSICALES, LAURA CANALES, JOHNNY HERNANDEZ, and ROBERTO PULIDO Y LOS CLASICOS.The acquisition will increase CAPITOL/ EMI LATIN’S TEX-MEX market share to approximately Sixty Five percent (65%).Commenting on the agreement, BEHAR said, We are very excited about the acquisition of CARA RECORDS, whose prestige in the TEX MEX music scene is virtually unmatched. Combined with our own roster, CAPITOL/EMI LATIN will become the leader in the TEX MEX community.
