L.iCaptain Thomas LeonardHiggs of Gibsons, B.C. passed away in hospital in Vancouver, B.C. on the morning of March 14th, 1968, at the age of 78.His death brought to the close a long and useful life connected almost entirely with the sea. He was born in NethertonHampshire, England in 1889coming to South Pender IslandL. S.hadHis firstwaswith his mother, Mrs.in 1892 to the home which been developed by his father, Lewis Leonard Spalding Higgs where his childhood was lived until entering the towboat and shipping industry as a veryyoung lad.employment with the Young Gore Tow-boat Company when he joined the veteran tug Sea deckhand when she was tied up awaiting favorable weather to proceed from Pender Island to the United States with K a tow. r\ 0of logs.
