Missionary WritesFrom Danish IslesElder Ronald Bruce Kjar, now laboring In the Faroe Islands off Denmark, has written, us a very interesting letter which we would like to share with our readers. Written on February 2, the letter reads as follows:I suppose that I had better take a few minutes off to drop you a line and thank you and everyone in Manti for their thoughtfulness this past holiday season. I am still receiving Christmas greetings' and I am thankful for all of the wonder-Iful friends who never forget the missionaries.I received the Messenger of December 27 tonight and since we get mail only every twonnn/uwwuuwwwuwuBuyNitrogenFertilizers atTAH POULTRY ARMERS CO-OP.ft. R. BROWN, MgrMANTi, UTAHWVMAAAAAAAnAAAAAftAlweeks, you can believe that it gets a .thorough going over before being fed to the fish — or whales — as the case may be.Speaking of fish, I thing that these islands produce the best fish (certainly the most) I’ve ever tasted. These islands have a total population of 30,000, not counting all of the incoming and outgoing foreign fishing ships, and my companion, Elder Thor-, stenson, from Idaho, and I arc working at present on the second largest island, Klakksvik, and are really enjoying our work here. These islands have a very interesting history dating back to1the time of the Vikings and they are one of the few places which h a v e preserved their native tongue. (If you think the Danish is hard to read^ you ought to try this), Wc don’t have to worry about learning their language because they all understand Danish and a large percent of them know a little English. The country is enlireiy different than any other place I’ve ever been, with a combination of steep, rocky hills and a steady downpour of rain. The peoplere mostly fishers and a fewsheep farmers. They have areligion which corresponds to the Baptists in England, and also a few members of the Lutheran church. These are a very bible conscious people and don’t even need to open the bible to be able to read the scripture, as they have it memorized. They are really a fine people and it is really wonderful to be here and beable to give them a chance to hear the gospel that lias been so much for us and which many of us have just taken too much for granted. It often takes a complete change of environment and anMrs. Alta Colman visited in Manti last week end, being the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. High-am, and returning to her home in Ilcber on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Iligham accompanied heron the trip.isolation from the members of this Eternal Gospel to be able to really appreciate the blessings and privileges of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ. In closing I would like to say once* again — Thanks to everybody for all the help and themany words of encouragement.*Sincerely yours,Elder Ronald Bruce Kjar.Buy NitrogenMORONS FEEPhone 2701
