Several meals and attractive dishes were prepared and cooked by Miss Austell and Mrs. Cox. She also demonstrated proper methods of preparing and packaging meats and vegetables for the home freezer. Rosser suffered a stroke at her home here Thursday while preparing lunch. We hope she improves nicely. Rudolph Hickman has accepted a position with the Red Cross field office at Fort Bragg. Attend Special Service A special Masonic service was held at the Jonesboro Heights Presbyterian Church Sunday morn ing with the pastor, Reverend Newman preaching a sermon espe cially for the Masons and members of Easter Star. Here On Leave Julian N. Phelps of the United States Navy stationed at Patuxent River, Maryland has been here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Phelps. Mrs. Phelps and Julian are visiting Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Harper in Timonsville, South Carolina for a few days. Mrs. Har per is his sister. To Tabor City Mrs. Tommie C. Chavis and children have been discharged from the Lee County Hospital where they were patients several days following a wreck in which Mr. Chavis lost his life. Mrs. Cha vis and five children, Jennie May, Minnie Pearl, Bettie Ray, Donnald and James are moving back to Tabor City to be near her rela tives. They had been residents of Olivia less than a year. Our very best wishes go with them to Camp Pvt. péveny Currin left Wednes day to report back to Camp Polk, La. and from there he is expect ing to receive orders for overseas duty. Visiting Relatives T. Sgt. Michel Brazo has been Spending “several days here with his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Brazo, and mother - in - law, Mrs. J Smith. Both Mr. and Mrs. Brazo accompanied her brother, @lifé Smith to Rawlings, Va. for a visit. Mrs. Brazo will return to Olivia and T. Sgt.
