Claims Sonny Boy’s Mother Would Be Against Father Chicago. March 21,(AP)—The 17-year-old adopted daughter of Dr. Gordon Mordoff testified to day that she did not believe that Dr. Mordoff's deceased wife would have wanted him to have custody of “Sonny Boy,” whose parentage and custody were the subjects of a court fight before Superior Judge Rudolph Desart. The witness, Mary Margaret Mordoff, an attractive high school honor student, was the first wit ness for Dr. Mordoff, who is dis puting possession of the child with Mrs. Margaret Mann Fletcher, 23. Mrs. Fletcher claims ‘Sonny Boy' is her illegitimate child. “Would your mother have want ed Dr. Mordoff to raise ‘Sonny Boy'? Attorney Benjamin Davis, “friend of the court,” asked, “No,” the girl replied after a moments hesitation. Earlier she had testified that she believed “Sonny Boy” to be the son of her foster mother, Mrs. Madge Mordoff, who died recent ly. Dr. Mordoff contends “Sonny Boy was born to Mrs. Mordoff in Minneapolis in September, 1932. Court in Confusion The court room was thrown into temporary confusions when Mrs. Mary Fairchild, sister of the late Mrs. Mordoff, accused the girl wit ness of lying after she had left the stand. The girl, who had been subject ed to a severe and lengthy exami nation, rose from her chair at the counsel table and cried: “Who said I lied? What did I lie about?” Judge Desart arose and called the attorneys and Mrs. Fairchild before him. “Mrs. Fairchild has been trying to run this show from the start,” exclaimed Harry X. Cole, attorney for Dr. Mordoff. Fined for Contempt “This is going to cost you just $25. the court told Mrs. Fairchild “If you don't pay you will go to jail.” The woman was placed in tech nical custody. Before leaving the stand, Miss Mordoff testified that she never saw Mrs. Fletcher until after the burial of Mrs. Mordoff. She said Mrs. Mordoff told her she was ex pecting a child before going to Minneapolis in August, 1932. Mrs. Mordoff, she related, returned in September without the baby, but Several days later called her up stairs to a bedroom, showed her “Sonny Boy , and said: “This is your new brother,”
