Lule’ Warrenton, character wom an for the 101 Bison company of the Universal, had a narrow escape from death by a plunge over a cliff An accident she was supposed to be in was staged at Point Firmin, near San Pedro, Cal., where the road winds around the hills overlooking the Pacific, the camera was set up and the action explained in debt. The auto containing the fearless ac tress came whirling around the bend. Apparently the brakes failed to work at the most perilous turn. Running close to the edge, it tot tered, hung an instant then plunged down the three hundred foot drop to the rocks below. Just as the front wheels disappeared over the bluff, Miss Warrenton jumped over the side of the car, struck on the edge of the road, slipped, caught on a bush growing from the side of the cliff and hung there until several members of the company rushed to her assistance and dragged her up to safety. Gene Gauntier joins Universal. Gene Gauntier, former Kalem and Biograph star, and more recently head of her own feature film com pany, has followed Mary Fuller into the Universal fold. She will be directed by Jack Clark who has been her director and lead ing man for some time past; he will also play the leads opposite her. Lillian Elliott in Morosco Photoplay Lillian Eliott, one of America’s foremost character artists, has been engaged by the Oliver Morosco Pho toplay company to appear before the motion picture camera in ‘Help Wanted,” which is now being pre pared for the screen at the Bos worth-Morosco studios.
