* * $-London must each week have its special excitement, and just at the present the “ Elephant Man” is the chief attraction of the town. The Prince and Prineess of Wales have visited him at the London Hospital, where a little room has been specially built for him in the yard; and among those who have been frequently to sea him and done him many kindnesses are Lady Dorothy Nevill, Mrs. Francis Jeune, and Mrs. Kendal. But the Princess of Wales has been particularly kind, and has done all that sympathy and graceful kindness can to lighten the unfortunate man's lot. Mr. Merrick, the “elephant man,” is a native of Leicestershire. He is extremely intelligent, and though his appearance is extraordinary, it is in no way repulsive.*• ■*
