*0.*-HATCHING FOR GHOSTSOn Congress street, in the neighborhood of “the bend,” stands a two-story frame dwelling house. . To the passing observer the building bears no prominent characteristics not posssesed by the numerous other houses iu that, vicinity. But, although unobservable, the uneasy spirit of some dear departed leaves its grave and in this unimport-* ant looking structure amuses itself nightly. The house is now occupied by one or two families ; it wasuntenat ed for a long period. The persons now in possession report horrible groans slammiug of doors, extinguishing of lights, heavy treads, and several other unaeeountable happenings almost every night. Last evening a number of per~ sous volunteered to sit up with the oo eupants in hopes of solving the mysfcer iea. About 8 o’clock the house was uncomfortable crowded by these volunteers. No unusual occurences took place to repay the visitors, the spiritsprobably having been informed of the targe number intending to be present. The haunted house is property of Gen. Alien. His feelings toward the ghostly visitants would be an un heathy one for any mortal to incur. Troy is now enjoying a somewhat extended reputation in the uuearthly line.— Troy Press.Would it not be well to watch some of the houses iu Wakarusa, and stop the slamming of doors.
