By MICHAEL MULARCZYK Transcript Intern CHESHIRE — The Cheshire 4H Cornstalkers recently held their monthly meeting and had a pizza party at Okay Pizza II in Cheshire. The +H Club has 18 members bet ween the ages of 6 and 16. Group leader Elizabeth Kittler described the 4H group as a ‘‘community con servation club’’, and said they par ticipate in things like decorating the town Christmas Tree, community clean up projects, the Memorial Day Parade, and, of course, the Agricultural Fair. Kittler said that for this meeting the children had to write what it means to them to live in the Berkshires during the winter. Here are a few examples of the children’s exact words. I like Winter in Cheshire because of skiing and sledding down hills. I like ice skating on Cheshire Lake. 1] like to snowball fight with my brother and sister in the snow. I like to build big snow forts to play in. I also like to make snowmen. This is how I usually spend my summer. Greylock Mt. looks like a big bunch of ice. It is so pretty. I hope they do not chop down the trees and bald houses there. I like the long nights so I can get more sleep. Justin Martel, I like winter because. In the beginning of winter I can’t whate for skiing. In the modes of winter I can't whate for summer. In the end of winter I can't whate for the green leaves to be on the trees Peter Sherratt. 8 The children discussed their hopes and dreams. Matt Erdmann, 11, said he’s been in the 4H group for three years. He said when he grows up he would like to become a horse trainer. ‘People think they’re vicious and that they eat other people, but really they’re shy,’’ he explained. “They're scavengers not predators. They eat dead animals on the side of the road and stuff. ” Jennifer Mastroianni, 10, and Stephanie Carter, 6, both said they like learning about animals in 4-H. Mastroianni said one day she would like to be a veterinarian, and Carter Winter is fun, but you don’t get much fun. Jen Mastroianni said she would like to be a nurse.
