PAULINE WEEDENanquetSetAt ChurchThe celebration of the 80th Anniversary of John Stewart United Methodist Church this weekend will be highlighted by a banquet Saturday at 7 p.m. in the John Stewart Memorial Center.The guest speaker will be Mrs. Pauline Weeden, assistant principal of Dunbar High School in Lynchburg, Va. Educated at Howard University (AB) andColumbia University (MA, Mrs. Weeden has been awarded several honors, including the Omega Achievement Award and the Scout Achievement Award formost outstanding citizen of the community, for her active participation in community affairs. She is a member of the Executive Board of the Lynchburg Community Council. She has been the national President of Links, Inc., and is a national officer of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She is active in theWashington Conference WSCS and an officer in the Jackson Street United Methodist Church in Lynchburg. Mrs. Weeden’s subject will be “Your Heritage -What Will Your Legacy Be?The mistress of ceremonies will be Mrs. Stanley Sinkford, chairman of the John Stewart Administrative Board and president of the WSCS. Also on the program will be Rev. Carrolton H. Jackson, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Rev. Samuel B. Sink, pastor of Bland Street United Methodist Church, Mrs. Thelma Thompson Topson from Simtvson United Methodist Church In Charleston, and a Park Central High School musical ensemble under the direction of Mrs. Olivia Cannaday.The climax of the 80th Anniversary celebration will be t h e worship service on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. The guest preacher will be Bishop Edgar A. Love, former Bishop of the East Tennessee conference, Baltimore Area, of the Methodist Church.A reception wiH be held in Howard Hall following the service.CahahiIi/ T
