Mr. Ba-kick has nearly completed arrange meats for quarrying, and is sanguine in anticipation \ r of being well paid (or his investments in ma« chiuery :Madison, March 6,’60.Mr Dkar Sir—1 received your letter collie four week* since, and should have answered immediately, but 1 have waited togei the accompanying analysis from Boston to aeud you.The examinations that have been tmide of your quarry on the Manitowoc river have tolly convinced me of its value as.a buildingatone, and tor such uses as are now supplied by the ordinary grey marble to which it belongs. ^It is a compact flue-grained marble, uomewhat harder to polish than the ordinarymarbles lt;jf this country, but equally durable. It is considerably too dark lor statuary, but might be used for comuion ornamental purposes and lor a very large class of architectural designs. It is fully equal to thewhite limestone' so much prized at Chicago-its location is eminently tuvurable for transportation.
