CASIO REPORT - Girl, age 15. This young high school girl had suffered with severe headaches for about two and one half months, her mother reported. Mr. Mike Dobmeyer is still in Plains Memorial hospital. Mrs. Au gust Huseman spent a couple days in the hospital the past week. She is home again and doing OR. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Hochstein of Fordyce, Nebr., visited his sis ter, Mrs. Brigetta Dobmeier and at the past week. On Sunday evening they all enjoyed supper with the Eugene Hochsteins family. A large group of the members of the ‘Knights of Columbus and their wives from here enjoyed the St. Patrick’s Charity ball in Um barger on Saturday, March 14. The family of Albert Gerber en joyed dinner and a get - together on Sunday. Donna came home for a week's visit from Tampa, Florida where she is employed. Carol came from Wichita Falls where he is stationed at Sheppard Air Base. Out of the thirteen children, only Ricky with the Air Force in Wich ita, Kansas did not get home. Fa ther Stanley enjoyed dinner with the family. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Pohlmeier and Mrs. Anna Albracht visited the Harvey Arthas at Vega on Sunday. . The FFA and 4 - H Club boys from here did real well on their calves and pigs at the stock show held in Dimmitt, Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. Olen Schulte had the Reserve Champion pig of the show, The Nazareth Buyers Club wish to thank all merchants who purchased animals or donated and everyone who do nated cash. Almost $2,000 was col lected to make the sale one of the best ever. Mrs. Brandt and Miss Marcel la Birkenfeld of Umbarger visit ed relatives and friends here Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hubbard and girls of Dallas spent the week end with her folks, the Raymond Annens. They left Monday morn ing and Mrs. Cornelia Annen went with them to visit relatives a round Dallas. (Delayed from last week) Several adults from here are attending evening classes weekly at Amarillo College, taking courses in Spanish and Income Tax pre paration. They are Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Wilhelm, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Kern, Gilbert Schulte, Rita Kern, and Mrs. Bert Wilhelm, of Umbarger. Gene Kern goes twice a week for the speed reading course. Bernie Braddock, son of the Ru dolph Braddocks who spent sev eral weeks in Northwest hospital in Amarillo suffering from injuries he received in a car-truck col lision, came home Saturday, Mar ch 7. He will have to spend the next several months in bed. He enjoys having company, so let’s all go visit him and help him pass some of these lonely hours. He and his family wish to thank everyone who helped in any way, donating blood, for the beautiful flowers, and get well cards. The Christian Mothers Society held their regular monthly meet ing on Monday evening in the Community Hall with a good at tendance. Rev. Father Stanley brought several items to the at tention of the members to be discussed. The games night commit tee reported on the party held Sunday evening and announced an other for April 5. For the program Mrs. Leonard Wilhelm gave a very interesting talk on their three weeks trip to Europe. They visited Germany, Monaco, Rome, Venice, Innsbruck and other places. Relatives and friends from here who went to Happy for the funeral of Mrs. Pauline Huseman on Mon day were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Heeling, Mrs. Alphonse Huseman, Mrs. Agnes Brockman, Mrs. Bert Venhaus, Mrs. Emil Backus, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schulte. ‘The World Day of Prayer’ held on Friday, March 6 was attended by a large crowd of women. We were especially pleased so many ladies came from the different churches in Dimmitt even in the rainy weather. It was good to meet you all and unite in prayer. I attended the Deanery Board meeting of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women in Plainview on Thursday, March 24 to help plan the Deanery spring meeting to be held in Plainview on April 15. An in teresting meeting was planned which will include the new liturgy explained for the Mass, Baptism, Weddings and Funerals. Also a drug workshop is planned. Rev. Simeon Keine, deanery moderator, attended also Rev. Father Chris man, pastor of St. Alice and about 25 women. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoeling and Leonard spent several days visiting their daughter and family, the Bay ard Keys in Plainview. Susanna and Daryl Keys came home with their grandparents and spent the weekend here. Mrs. Lizzie Birkenfeld and dau ghter Marcella and nieces, Rita and Germaine Pohlmeier spent Sun day, in Dumas visiting their friends, the Wilburn Pharpes. They enjoy ed dinner with them, visited the plant where he is employed and also went out to Lake Meredith. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Drerup flew to Austin for the Federal Land Bank convention on Friday on their way back they stopped a day in Dallas to visit their daughter and family, the James De Cardinal. Dale Brockman, son of Arnold Brockmans came home from San Diego, Calif., where he has been in training with the Marines. He’s home on 20 day leave and will re port back the 29th and then will be stationed in Hawaii. He was one of the six lucky ones out of $0 that did not have to go to Vietnam. The@ Area Benedictine Sisters held a three day study, Friday evening through Sunday at the Sis ter’s Convent here conducted by Rev. James Lex of Evansville, Indiana. The meeting was held to discuss the “Three Week Reviv al’, program which is to be held at St. Scholastical Convent in Fort Smith the coming summer and which will be attended by as many of the members of the community as possible. Mrs. John Stark was admitted to Plains Memorial Hospital in Dimmitt on Sunday morning for medication and tests. The Jim Ball family of Friona spent Sunday here visiting their families, Mrs. Josephine Ball and Ed Drerup. Mrs. Paul Venhaus who has been in the hospital at Dimmitt and Lubbock the past several weeks, is on the road to recovery and will be able to come home in the next day or two which is very good news. Mr. Mike Dobmeier is still in the hospital, having had 2nd good days. The Nazareth CYO held a Talent Show Sunday March 8 in the school cafetorium. There was a good turn out of contestants and a large enthusiastic crowd who envyed it. Winners in the junior division: first place, Clyde Birken feld, Danny Gerber and Larry Ra maekers in a comedy act ‘Don’t Take My Hoss Away”; second, Norman, Elaine and Bernard Ac ker in a puppet show; third, a duet by Mary Theresa and Tommy Kern. Senior Division, first place, Gloria Ruiz of Tulsa, soloist; 2nd, Barber Show Quartet, Ed Ramae kers, Florance Albracht, Paul Ven haus and Francis Wilhelm; 3rd place, “The Ice”, a band from Happy.
