Candidates TotBe Named At City ConventionDate Set For Biennial ElectionOther than last week’s announcement by Acting Mayor W. R* Baker of a nominating convention in the city hall on Monday, March 30, there has been little talk or activity about the forthcoming election. The election is set for Tuesday, April 28.Terms of office expire for Mayor George P. Stock, and Councilmen J. L. Jaussi of the first precinct, John H. Teuscher of the second, and Floyd Bird of the third precinct.Candidates for elective offices nuy be nominated by convention or petition. A convention must consist of at least 40 qualified voters.Nomination by petition must bear names of 40 qualified voters for mayor, and at least six for coimcil-meruFiling of nomination petition must be completed by April 16, or 12 days prior to election date, April 28.Qualified to vote are electors of the state who will have resided within the city limits for three months preceding the election, providing they are registered. Electors who did not cast ballots at either of the city elections held in 1951 and-1949 must register. Sinfce only 50 people voted at the 1951 city election, and 64 In 1949, most city residents must register if they care to vote at the election on April 28.Voting at general, school or spe-( cial bond elections does not qualify, electors to vote at city elections.) Special registration on city rolls is ( necessary. This may now be done at the clerk’s office in the city hall.,
