TERRIBLE ACCIDENT TO AN AGED EX-CON FEDERATE.Mr. Mathew Parker, an old one-legged Confederate soldier, who is drawing a pen-! sion from the State because of his disability, met with a tragic accident near the old rolling mills this morning. The old gentleman has been cultivating a small farm | near this city, and was walking along the j State railroad track this morning when he ! was struck by the engine of the Home accommodation. He was thrown violently to the ground and the wheels of the en-• gine passed over the unwounded leg of the j unfortunate man and mangled it so badly 1 as to necessitate amputation. Mr. Parker is a very aged man and was dependent on his own exertions for the support of hiin-j self and a large family.
