ON WESLEY FEH Gladstone and District's eldest , New ton Wesley Fehr, passed away in the Gladstone District Hospital on Sunday, March 7, 1971, at the age of 100 years 3 months 27 days. He was born in Freeport, Ill. on November 11, 1870, and to the Gladstone District in 1904 where he farmed all his life. He was married to Mary Jane Seamore in Carberry, Man. on Nov ember 26, 1907. Mrs. Fehr predeceased him on January 26, 1967. He was also predeceased by two daughters, Florence in 1922, and Mrs. W.E. (Gladys) Pottinger in November 1966. Mr. Fehr was the United Livestock shipper from 1916-1936 He was a man of many firsts with livestock, horses, swine, implements, clover and many other areas. He was a great home man, willing to give and help in any way possible, and not one to discourage anyone. He attended weekly sales at the Gladstone Auction Mart just prior to his accident. Surviving are five sons, Stan, Ralph, Homer, Victor all of Gladstone and Leo nard of Portage la Prairie; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Ida) Shura, and Mrs. Tom (Daisy) Pottinger of Winnipeg, and Mrs. James (Phyllis) Pottinger of Gladstone, thirty grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; one brother Allan Fehr of Council Bluffs, Iowa, three neices, Mr Margaret Kircher, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs Eleanor Roumps, Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Florence Hyson, Oakland, Calif. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. Arvon Keating was held from the Gladstone United Church on Thursday, March 11, 1971 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was in the family plot, Gladstone Cemetery.Honorary pallbearers were Messrs. Joe Cook, Roy McBride, Dave Heiman, James Adamson, Stuart Broadfoot, and Dr. C.T. Boyd. Active pallbearers were Messrs. Robert Gillespie, Frank Hammel, Dave Smith, Wm. Johnston, Ernie Wickstead and Ron Broadfoot. Flowerbearers were Messrs. Cal. Franklin, Sherry Fehr, Greg Fehr, Ron Fehr, Ken, Pottinger and Keith Pott inger. Ushers were Mr. George Adamson and Mr. Art. Otto. Organist was Mrs. Jean Scott and Miss Lillian Thompson sang a solo Beyond The Sunset . The church choir was in attendance. Hammond's Funeral Service of Gladstone was in care of the arrangments.
