The first street light used in Co rona is an exhibit in the office of the Chamber of Commerce. It is a large oil lamp owned by T. A. Fraser,718 Howard street, who brought it to the office so that Coronans might see the progress made in illumination and_compare the oil wick, with the tungsten filament. The lamp is still in a good state of preservation though it was used to light the streets of Corona thirty-five years ago. Along with this exhibit Secretary Clark has arranged to show a hive init design of a streat Ticht nest which should stimiatare interest in the contest being put’ ‘on why the Chamber of Commerce to ° et differ ent deere of Hiebt noste ochemitte] before the last day of the month. A cash prize of five cholera is reed. for the one who submits the hest de sign, either in drawing or model, to the office of the Chamber of Cars merce. this month. From the de signs submitted, an appropriate one will be chosen to be 718e8 as a model for the light posts when more lights are installed alone Sixth and Main streets, and possibly around Grand Boulevard.
