Sartwcll. occurred Saturday afternoon at 4,30 o'clock at thn family homo on King street, following an extended Illness. Nearly a year ago Mrs. Sartweil suffered an attack of paralysis, but eventually was able to get about up to January 12, last when she Jell at her homo and fractured her hip. Since thojj time she had been confined to her bed and on Ttioa-day of last week she suffered another attack of paralysis from which she did not rally.Mrs. Sartweil was one of Smcth-pon's best known women and was beloved by all. A devout member of St. Luko’s church, she woe ever active in affairs of church and parish. Hers was a life devoted to the Burceaoe of suffering. Few were the calls of tbo needy that Clara Sartweil did not hear and acts of kindness anji mercy innumerable characterized her life and endeared tier to all. In her -passing her homo, her Church and tbo community has suffered an Irreparable loss and her demise is mourned by every cltlr.cn.Clara M. Hoffman was born In this place April 30, 1802, a dnughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Hoffman. She was united In marriage to F. C, Sartweil in Smethport May 25, 182, To them one daughter, Margaret, now Mrs. William March, was born. Besides her husband and daughter, the deceased Ib Burvlyed by one sister, Mr®. T. F. Hungiville of Smethporl.The funeral was held at St. Luke's Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the Rby. W. E. Van Dyke officiating, Tho final obsequies were largo ly attended and floral tributes from the wide circle of friends were beautiful, Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.The entire community will unite with the Democrat in extending condolence to the family so sorely bereft in the death of this noble woman.
