By Newport Navalog staffCommand Master Chief James Ford will relieve Command Master Chief Steven Juskiewicz as the 14th director of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA) in change of office ceremonies at Building 1112 today at 10:30 a.m.Juskiewicz has been director for the past two years, and Ford was the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat (CMC/COB) course directorover the past year. The ceremony will be presided over by Capt. Fritz Roegge, former commanding officer of the Seawolf class submarine USS Connecticut.SEA educates senior and master chief petty officers from across the Navy in areas of leadership, management and communication. The Navy is rapidly changing how it educates and trains Sailors, and the SEA is on the cutting edge of that change.SEA includes representatives from all of the sister military services, and numerous international students in its learning environment. It encompasses other educational branches to include, not only the resident course, but thenon-resident, the CMC/COB Course, and the Spouse’s Course.Last year, in-resident students dedicated new academic spaces across the street in Perry Hall, NAVSTA.Master Chief Ford is a nativeof Alabama and enlisted in the Navy in March 1980. After completing Recruit Training in San Diego, he attended Machinist Mate Class “A” school in Great Lakes, IL.Ford’s fleet assignmentsinclude two carriers and two submarines, and his shore assignments include Naval Submarine School, Groton, Conn., and on staff of Submarine Squadron Eight Performance Monitoring Team.Ford also served as Chief of the Boat of the submarine USS Norfolk (SSN-714)Ford has earned a bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College and a master’s in management, with concentration in leadership and organizational effectiveness, from Troy University. He is also a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 81 Blue.Juskiewicz’s assignments have included: Navy Recruiting District, Buffalo, N.Y.; Staff, Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Naval Forces Europe, London, England; Staff, Commander Submarine Group TWO, Groton, Conn.; and as a faculty adviser and Command Master Chief course facilitator at SEA. From May 2004 to July 2005 he served as CNO-directed command master chief for Commander, Navy Region Northeast.During this tour, Juskiewicz was selected for assignment as the director of SEA, becoming the academy’s 13th director in August 2005.
