C. VOGEL ‘DIES Conrad Vogel’ was born in Augsburg, Germany July 18, 1838, and died at the National Military Home, Danville, Il.,on March 9, 1923 at the age of 84 years, 7 ‘months and 21 days. He emigrated to this country when. life, young. He served as a veteran of ‘the Civil war, being a Private’ in Co. A 42nd Ind. Infantry. After the war he loca ted in the South, later coming to Rockport, where he since resided. He was married to Mrs. Anna Kroeger in Rockport in the year 1877. He was united with the St. John’s church in Augsburg, Ger many, at the age of 18 years, and continued in that faith up to the time of his decease. Six years a go he became a member of the National Military Home *at=Dan ville, TL., and remained there un til his death. His wife preceded him in ‘death on the 27th day of July,, 1901. He leaves surviving, a daugh ter, Mrs. Mary ‘Hamilton, of Seat tle, Washington; a son, George Vogel of Burley, Idaho; also two step-daughters, Miss Carrie Kroeger and Mrs. Amelia Mohr of this city, several grandchildren, and a host of relatives, and friends. Services were conducted at Mayhall’s Chapel, Sunday, March 11th at 2 p. m. under ‘auspices of the G. A. R., Rev. J. H. Diehl of ficating. Burial was at Sunset Hill cemetery.
