The event, which recognizes Tejano David MarezRecording Artists and their work, will have as it's hosts Vocal Duo of the Year: Emilio Genaro Aguilar - LosCheech Marin and Vicki Carr. The awards entertainment Aguilares, Joe Lopez Jimmy Gonzales - Grupo Mazz,will include David Marez, Latin Breed, Elsa Garcia, Linda Oscar Leonard Gonzales - La MafiaV., Joe Posada, Selena, and Grupo Mazz. The expected Album of the Year (Orchestra/Group): Corazon Deattendance for this year's event is 10,000.Hielo - Roberto Pulido, Sold Out - David Marez, Talk of theThe Tejano Music Awards were initiated in 1980 by Rudy Town - Ram HerreraTrevino and Gilbert Escobedo. Their desire was to promote Album of the Year (Conjunto): Damelo - Ramon Ayala,a better understanding and appreciation for music from the En Su Onda - Nick Villarreal, Tour 88 - David Lee Y LosHispanic Community.MusicalesThree women have been nominated in the Female Enter- Tejano Gospel Music Artist: Paulino Bernal, Rudytainer of the Year category. They are Jean Le Grand, Selena Guerra, JoshuaQuintanilla, and Patsy Torres. Selena and Patsy have also been nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year along with Elsa Garcia.Jean Le Grand, who was bom April 20, 1961 in Long Beach, California has been active with music since the age of seven.Selena Quintanilla, and her group (Los Dinos) are the younger generation of Tejano Music. Selena is 17 years old and has been singing since the age of 9. She performed in Pueblo, Colorado at the Minnequa Club Ballroom, in 1988.Patsy Torres, bom Patricia Donita in San Antonio, began playing trumpet in ninth grade. In late 1982, she started the Patsy Torres Band. La presentacion fue en la seccion de la Calle Ocho cono-cido como Latin Quarter en la Pequena Habana. La cer-monia estaba afrente al restaurant McDonald's que se en-cuentra entre las avenidas 14 y 15 del South West.Latin Stars Inc. es una corporation sin fines lucrativos designada a destacar los logros de artistas latinos que han contado con Miami como plataforma para lanzar sus carre-ras a niveles intemacionales y de la misma forma han brindado reconocimiento a la bella ciudad de Miami. La estrella fue grabada y colocada en la acera de Miami conmemorando asi sus triunfos para siempre.
