Metro Squad officially endsBy Dick KellcherToday is the official end for the Eastern Valencia County Metro Squad.The unit failed to receive approval for funding for the next Law Enforcement Assistance Agency fis cal year, which would have started April 1 for the Metro Squad. The LEA A was the major monetary supporter of the Metro unit.Earlier this month, the County Commission withdrew from the program, following the Village of Los Lunas vs hieh did the same earlier this y ear.Los Lunas' part in the program was to In- taken up by the Village of Bosque Farms, hut that community saw tht- fruitlessness of the situation alter the county government with drew its support. Bosque Farms officially withdrew its support from the program the day after the countydid.The third participating member. Helen, has yet to officially withdraw its support.Connie Cohn, area administrator for the LEA A, was in Los Lunas Friday to help disperse the in kind equipment that the three original sponsors of the program had donated. The original sponsors were Helen. Lo* Lunas and Valencia CountyIn an interview Friday.
