Nettie LaVaun Dunkin, 63, of Flora was dead on arrival at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, Wednesday of last week follow ing a one-car crash at’ 4:30 p.m. in Camden. ‘Officers said Mrs. Dunkin was traveling east on Cumberland St., when for an unknown reason, her vehicle went off the road at the intersection with Armstrong St., and struck a utility pole. Mrs. Dunkin sustained a bruise on the left side of her forehead, according to officers. Damage to the 1972 car was estimated at $550. Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy taken to determine if her death was due to natural causes or to injuries sustained in the accident. The accident is currently list ed as a fatality, which brings the 1973 traffic death toll in Carroll County to six. County Police Officers Leon Riley and Lee Hoard, and Cam den Marshal Raymon Roberson investigated. Karen S. Yates, 20, of Rt. 4, Delphi escaped injury when the car she was driving went out of control on a rain-slick curve and slid off the road, turning over in the ditch. Damage to the 1967 car was estimated at $750. The accident occurred at 6 p.m. Friday, four miles north of Del phi on the Carrollton Road. County Officer Leon Riley and State Troopers Herb Clear and Larry Young investigated. Two persons were injured in a two-car collision at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, two miles south of Delphi on US 421 - SR 39. Officers said cars driven by Helen E. Shepeard, 54, of Rt. 3, Lafayette, and Patsy L. Crispen, 28, of Rossville collided when the Shepeard car turned left off SR 18 into the path of the Crispen vehicle, which was northbound on US 421 The Shepeard woman was charged with failure to yield the right of way. She sustained a bruised left ankle and a bruised left arm. The other woman sus tained minor forehead scratches. County Officer Lee Heard and Sheriff Dale McCurdy investi gated. Darrell D. Rinehart, 18, of La fayette escaped injury in a one car crash at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, four miles north of Rossville. Officers said Rinehart was traveling west on CR 600-S when his car went out of control on the rain-slick road, skidding off the road and striking a fence owned by Dr. Ralph Weller of Rt. 1, Rossville. County Officer Riley investi gated.
