Renford Norris, pastor of the Bethel Pentecostal Church was officiant.Parents of the coupleare Mr and Mrs. Roy D Cooper and Mr and Mrs Lance Furlow of Durango. ColoTraditional pre-nuptial selections were offered by-organist Marie Kinard who also played the processional and recessional Soloists. Judith Holladav. sang “MvLove” and Layne Heald presented Perhaps Love”. As the Unitycandle was lit. Mrs. Holladav sang “Never My Love” Roy Wayne Cooper, brother of the bride, accompanied the singers on the guitar.Vows were exchanged facing the audience before an altar decorated with a lacy candle arch containing % tapers interspersed with palm greenery. To each side of the arch were candle trees holding nine candles and greenery. The profile kneeling bench wasCooper, Furlow repeat vowsdraped with a greenery garland and royal blue bow The Unity candle was centered in front of the arch and aisles were enhanced with bridal arches decorated with garland greenery, candles and royal blue bows.Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride chose a white polv-organza gown with a high neckline, bishops sleeves with reembroidered lace trim, pleated lace flounce and an attached chapel-length train. Her veil was a heavily pearled Juliet cap with one tier elbow length trimmed in matching lace and one chapel-length tier trimmed identically Her bouquet was a silk crescent of white gardenias. stephanotis and baby’s breath.In keeping with tradition. the bride wore as something old her paternal grandmother’s ruby ring given her on her wedding day by her husband, George Cooper. Her dress and veil was something new; she borrowed a six pence from Mrs. Steve Furlow, sister-in-law of the groom and a white Bible from Mrs. Brant Williams, sister of the bride; something blue was a garter hand made by Mrs. Rena Neel of Durango, Colo.Upon entering the sanctuary. the bride presented her mother with a long stemmed white rose and upon leaving, the same token was given to her mother-in-law.Serving as matron of honor was Mrs. Brant Williams, sister of the bride Bridesmaids were Tina Payton, Sandra Bokemeyer of Midland and Tammy Sims of Abilene. They were dressed identically in dresses of royal blue formal-length polyester accented with a sheer cumberbund at the waistline. The dresses featured a fitted bodice with spaghetti straps, softly feathered A-line shirt and bolero with elbow length puffed sleeves To complete their look of elegance, they wore halos of silk royal blue baby’s breath with streamers cascading down the back. Their bouquets were silk nosegays of royal blue poppies, baby’s breath, silver ribbons forming a circle around a royal blue candle cup in the center and silver leaves around the outer edges. Silver ribbons and streamers completed the nosegays.Tiffany Williams, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. She wore a dress of blue Georgette crepe with a round ruffled neckline, empire waistline and long sleeves with wrist ruffles, designed and made by her mother. A silver lace belt with royal blue ribbon entwined throughout was at the waistline. She wore a matching comb of royal blue flowers and streamers in her hair. She carried a white wicker basket holding flower petals. Ringbearers were Alison Cooper, niece of the bride and Jason Williams, nephew of the bride. Alison was dressed identical to the flower girl. Jason wore a silver Bennett tuxedo. They each carried white satin pillows edged in lace, made by the bride’s mother.Attending the groom as best man was Steve Furlow of Brownfield. Groomsmen were Bill Owen, Bryce Hensley, brother-in-law of the groom from Hobbs, N.M., and Dan Ellis of Muleshoe. Ushers were Roy Wayne Cooper of Tarzan, Dan Cooper of La mesa, brothers of the bride, Mark Burden of Levelland and Joe Dean Hall, brothers-in-law of the groom.The groom wore a white Bennett tuxedo with tails and a vest with an ascot tie. The best man and groomsmen wore silver vested and tailed tuxedos with pleated shirts and ascot ties and satin lapels and the ushers, clergymanand father wore black vested tuxedos with straight tails and ascot ties and pleated white shirts. All the men in the bridal party wore matching royal blue silk flower boutonnieres with silver leaves.The mother of the bride chose a floor-length gown of plum colored GeorgetteCooper. MARK KEVIN FURLOW...nee Carmen Lea Coopercrepe featuring an off-the-shoulder yoke of dark plum edged with a narrow ruffle gathered to the light plum bodice It featured a natural waistline and softly gathered sleeves attached to a narrow band at the wrist. A long sash of dark plum, lined in light plum, completed the ensemble. She made and designed her own gown.The groom’s mother chose a floor-length gown of sea green chiffon over taffeta featuring a ruffled, V-neckline. Sheer long sleeves gathered to a band at the wrist and a natural waistline with a tie sash completed her attire.Registering guests for the ceremony were Stacy and Lisa Jasper, nieces of the groom.centerpiece was porcelain flowers with silver candlesticks and pink candles.RECEPTIONFollowing the ceremony a reception was held in the parlor of the church.The table for the couple was decorated with a white cloth centered with a silver candlestick holding royal blue candle placed to each side of the five-tiered wedding confection decorated with feathered royal blue carnations, white wedding bells, royal blue bows and tiny white rose buds. The cake was made by the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Arvis Woodul. White punch, a fresh fruit bowl, cheese balls and assorted crackers, blue and white mints were also served.The groom’s cake was chocolate with a cotton boll on top. The table featured a cotton boll centerpiece, chocolate leaf mints, nuts and coffee. The groom’s mother and sister, Brenda Loos of San Antonio, made the mints.Feb 15 a lingerie miscellaneous shower was given by Bethel Pentecostal Church in the home of Mrs J D Aldridge in honor of Carmen Cooper, bride-elect of Mark Furlow. Hostesses were: Mrs. J.D. Aldridge. Mrs Maxie Aldridge. Ms. Gwen Aldridge. Mrs Renford Norris. Mrs Barry Addison, Mrs. W.W. Curry. Ms. Jody Boudreaux Honored guests were Carmen Cooper. Mrs. Roy D. Mrs. Lance Furlow, and Mrs. George Cooper The table was covered with a white embroidered cloth centered with an arrangement of multicolored silk flowers, which was presented to the honoree from the hostesses. Punch, coffee. cheese ball, crackers. Petit Fours and other sweets were served to the guests.On Feb. 20 a bridal shower honoring Carmen Cooper, bride-elect of Mark Furlow was given at the Women’s Study Club. The table was covered with a white lace-edged linen cloth centered with a tall silk arrangement of pussy willow and royal blue flowers in a crystal bud vase, which was presented to the honoree by thehostesses Guests were served sausage roll-ups, sliced fresh fruit, and a variety of cookies, cheeses and sweet breads as well as coffee, hot spiced tea and orange juice.Feb 20 a linen shower at the Sentry Savings Building hosted by Mrs. Bart Bokemeyer and Mrs Billy Miller was given to Carmen Cooper, bride-elect of Mark Furlow Honored guests were Mrs Roy D Cooper. Mrs George Cooper and Mrs Lance Furlow Guests were served German chocolate cake and fruit pizza, coffee and punch, nuts and mints.Feb 27 a rice bag brunch was held in the home of Mrs Ronnie Payton hosted by Mrs Payton. Tina Payton and Mrs. Brant Williams Guests were served coffee and orange juice, sausage balls and sausage rollups and fresh fruit.
