The remains of Dr. Howard M. Holcomb, yau Passed away suddenly in Ladsiuiz, Mich., on Wednesday evening of last week, reached Chat- Caugay Sunday afternoon and were conveyed to the home of his parents Mr. and Mra. A. A. Holcomb, where funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. K. Sheffeld. The home was filled with mourning friends, who came to testi fy to the high regard and love in which the deceased was held throughout the community, and ex pressions of cheap surrow were heard on all sides of the unexpected demise of un promising and worthy a young man. The annexed clipping from the Lansing State Journal gives fuller particulars of the passing of Dr. Hol comb. Pr. Howard N. Holcomb, 35, city physican died suddenly Wednesday night, as the result of an attack of acute indigestion. His lifeless body was found on a cot in his offices at the city health center on W. Allegan street, Wednesday night about 8:30 o'clock, and his death was attributed to acute indigestion by Dr. S. Row land Hill, city health director and Dr. Fred J Drolett. After dinner Wednesday afternoon Dr. Holcomb went to the health cen ter and when he did not return home about 8 o’clock Mrs. Holcomb became ar@med and notified Joseph Planck, assistant prosecuting attorney, and a close friend of the Holcomb family. Mr. Planck went to the health center and found the place lighted. There was no response to his knocks on the door, so he notified the police department, and Roy Smith, secre tary of the police department, and Mr. Planck entered the health center, finding the city physician dead. It was believed that he had been dead about a half hour when his body was found. Coroner William D. Brinkerhoff was called and took charge of the body. The coroner announced Thursday morning that there would not be an inquest. Dr. Holcomb was appointed Lans ing city physician by the city board of health, Oct. 1, 1921, and has since acted in that capacity. He came to Lasing from Magon.
