OLDEST ENLISTED MANIN SOUTH DAKOTAFlandreuu, S. D.. March 11.—JamesGillette, aged 61, of Moody county, on-joys the distinction of being the oldest man in South Dakota to qnlist in the active military service of the country. A few days ago lie journeyed to Pipestone, Minn., and enlisted and from information received by his South Dakota friends he has been acceptedand assigned to duty in a motor truckcompany. It is expected he soon willbe sent to France. Gillette cmne to Moody county with his parents when a youth and settled on a homestead north of Fla.ndreau, which was his residence up to the time he answered the call of the country for fighting men. Notwithstanding his advanced age, he is expected to give many of the “youngsters” a good tussel when it comes to fighting the Germans. Moody county claims uior* enlistments per capita of population than any other | county in the state and the oldest en-listed man in active field service.
