2-day expo set for next week BY BRYAN MEADOWS NORTHWEST BUREAU The Municipality of Greenstone plans to re-ignite interest in the Ring of Fire mining camp during a conference next week in Thun der Bay. To showcase the communi ty’s develop ment and en courage business growth in the region, Greenstone is hosting the Grow Green stone Expo on Monday and Tuesday at the Victoria Inn. “The Grow Greenstone Expo is the best place to learn about the min ing industry, how to fit into it and how everyone in the region, busi nesses and individuals included, can maximize their position in the devel opment,” Greenstone Mayor Ronald Beaulieu said Wednesday. Business owners, mining execu tives, regional leaders and those in terested in entering the industry are to share knowledge and experience during the two-day forum. “We understand that progress is not moving as fast as some had antic ipated and we may think we have time to prepare for development, but Greenstone recognizes that as fast as the flames on the Ring of Fire waned, the fire can rage again,” Beaulieu said. “We are working steadily to pre pare to be an integral part of the mining industry in Northern On tario,” he added. Open to the public, the event will also feature a Business and Work force Expo. Government and industry experts are to present and lead discussions. Among them are Matawa Ring of Fire negotiator Bob Rae, and Ewan Downie, CEO of Premier Gold. On Monday evening there will be a dinner with keynote speaker Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle. Tickets are available at 622-1979.
