Music, excitement, laughter and fun are the words which describe the circus party and enlisted men's dance at the hangar last• iSaturday night. . |Under a brilliant bank of spot-lights seven headline acts from the Kingling Brothers - Barnum and Bailey circus thrilled the audience of officers, enlisted men and their guests. Spontaneous applause echoed through the hangar as the! ^breath-taking gymnastics were performed by famous artists .in mid-air—thirty feet above the cement floor. •Following the circus acts enlisted men enjoyed dancing with the lovely girls from Tampa and vicinity.High-light of ithe dance was the jitter-bug contest. Cpl. John E. Davidson from the Medical Detachment with liis partner Beatrice Duggan won the first prize and were presented a loving cup by Mrs. Worth.*The midget Caruso, Paul Holom-po, opened the circus program with two vocal numbers. He’s a small .man, this Holompo, but he certainly has a big voice:Albert Powell gave a startling exhibition 011 the high trapeze. His act brought many gasps of fright from the feminine guests.The clowns, Lew Jacobs and Joe »furnished laughs galore between the acts throughout the show.A high pencil act, Daviso and Louise, thrilled the crowd with anact ^requiring perfect coordination between partners?' jElly Ardlety, a shy little blonde,easilv stole the show' with her j %performance 011 tlis swinging trapeze. Miss Ardelty was called hack by the thunderous applause which greeted her act. iThe Concello Brothers were forced to appear in civilian clothes due to their costumes having; been lost enroute from Sara-j sota. They did a swell job. of tumbling, however, and went over jtbig with the crowd. 5Massimilliano Truzzi convinced the audience he was the world’sgreatest juggler in a spectacular- • Ishow of plates, flaming torches, : and rubber balls. The torch act, j done in a complete blackout, was ; spectacular. ' jThe Wallendas caused many weak hearts to flutter when they performed 011 the tight wire, i Reaching high above the hangarIfloor the performer’s heads were at times above the girders which support the roof. This, was the first presentation of the Wallen-das* new act before an audience. The thunderous applause was indication of the acclaim these artists will win when they open in Madison Square Garden in April.Enlisted men were high in j their praise of the officers who j made the party and dance possible and are anxiously looking forward to another hangar party in the near future.Circus To Present Charity ProgramAnnouncement comes from SaravJsota that the last circus performance of the Winter season will be presented by Ringling Brother s-Barnuin Bailey Circus Sunday, March 15tm A small admission charge' will be made, proceeds from this event being given to charity organizations.This performance will be a pre-vue of the new and sensationalacts which have been perfected' ^during the winter season and which will be presented at the opening performance of this internationally famous circus in Madison Square Garden, New York, I11 April. 1Arrangements are being made for a convoy of trucks from Drew Field to Sarasota Sunday totransport men of the Field who#wish to visit the Circus. Convoy will leave at 9:30 A.M.Each organization commander is requested to contact Captain Earle Smith, Base Special Service Officer, phone 25S, giving number of men in his unit who desire to attend.- Lunches will be prepared by each organization mess.
