[Established 1863atality at Bungarby.4 ILD BURNED TO DEATH.At about 7 ‘ o'clock on Thursday 3rntng a fire broke out at Banda, mgarby, in a house occupied^ by r. Thomas Murdock and family, rs. Murdock had gone out to the 2ek to get a bucket of water, a dis-ice of between 300 and 400 yards, le children were then in bed. hen Mrs. Murdock had got half ty back from the creek she heard 2 children scream, and on looking wards the house saw smoke com-X from the tyiilding. She left the iter and ran. The little girl, six ars old, had dragged three of the laller ones out of bed and brought ?m outside. There was still one ild missing and she made an at-npt to get into the house again to ing the little one out, but the mes had filled the house and she is driven back. Mr. J. T. Hel-irs’s little girl, aged 12, on hear-X the screaming, ran to the spot d tried hard to get in after the ild but was also driven back by 2 flames. Master David Murdock ide an effort to break the front ill of the kitchen and had he suc-2ded the little one might have been zed, as the charred remains were erwards found near where lie ed to enter. The child had been ven by the flames into the kitchen d had evidently crawled in under ; safe to get away from the fire, le child was 19 months old. Its :!e body was burned to ashes.Mr. Charles Thompson rendered luable assistance in saving the1 mestead and grass paddocks from 2 fire. At the time of the fire Mr. iomas Murdock was at Nimity-lle. The house was on the Banda ate, owned by Mr. J. T. Helmers, d was near his own residence, lere was one lad at the place, one •man, and nine children, mostly lall. Mr. Helmers’ little girls ve the alarm to the nearest neigh-ur, and assistance arrived in time prevent a great outspread of fire, ister David Murdock fought the 2 like a hero to keep it in check.*. and Mrs. Thompson did very ich to assist the unfortunate parts in their terrible misfortune.
