Since coming in charg° of the register of deeds office the work has increased wonderfully as there is an ever-increasing amount of land sales and mortgages and now oil leases which had never been taken in Adair County until after Mr. Whelchel was elected have become so numerous that it is impossible for one man to do all the recording of these legal papers and considerable help is required to keep up the work, yet it is kept right up to date andMr. Whelehel has paid every cent of the cost of the exora help himself, thus making no cbarge against the county except his regular salary.
