FUNERAL OF KEN RICK.Imposing Services at . the 'Walnut Street Cathedral.St. Louis, March 11.—-The funeral of Archbishop Kenrick took place this morning, the services being held in the old Walnut street cathedral. The interment was iri Calvary cemetery.The doors of the cathedral were thrown open to the public at S o’clock and inside of ten minutes theschurch, which seats but 800, held a congregation of nearly twice that number. The doors were then closed and several thousand people were content to wait for over three hours In the cold until the casket bearing the remains of the late archbishop was conveyed to the hearse and the funeral procession began its march to Calvary cemetery.In the cathedral, Cardinal Gibbons occupied the thrown on the epistle side of the altar and Archbishop Ryan was seated on the opposite side. Archbishop Ka*n, of the St. Louis diocese, was the celebrant of the requiem mass, assisted by Rev. Father William Walsh. Rev. Father Fenlon was deacon; Rev. Michael McCabe, sub-deacon, and Fathers Goller and Hessoun, were deacons of honor. Rev. Father Brennan acted as master of ceremonies^ All the officiating priests were pastors of local churches. At the close of the mass Archbishop Ryan of Philadelphia, an intimate friend of the.deceased for over a score of years, delivered the funeral sermon.At the close of the services the immense crowd slowly fell into procession and the march to the cemetery began shortly before noon. The ceremonies at the grave were brief.
