OBITUARIESMRS. MARVIN BELTZ ARLINGTON (Special) - Marjorie Marie Beltz of 1833 43rd Street Northeast, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born on December 29, 1925, at Arlington, Iowa. Daughter of Edward F. Opperman and Arlene Staudt, died early Saturday, March 7, 1970 of an unexpected illness. She attained the age of 44 years, two months and seven days.She attended schools in Strawberry Point and Arlington, and was confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at Strawberry Point.She was united in marriage to Marvin Thomas Beltz on April 17, 1943 in West Union, Iowa. Two daughters were born to this union, Vicky and Cathy.She resided in Arlington until 1957, at which time the family moved to Cedar Rapids, where they have been residents the past 13 years. She had been employed in the office of the Gateway Transportation Company for the past 6 years.She always had an open heart for her home town and for her relatives and friends back home. Many of her nieces and nephews made their home in her residence when they first lived in the city.Her son-in-law, Mr. Richard E. Nelson, was unable to attend her funeral because her is serving in the military service in Vietnam.She was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene.She is survived by her husband, Marvin; two daughters, Vicky (Mrs. Richard E. Nelson), and Cathy, both at home; her father, Edward F. Opperman, Cedar Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Grover Markham, Lamont; three uncles, Raymond Staudt, Arlington; Henry Opperman, Strawberry Point; and Maynard Opperman, Canada; one aunt, Mrs. Francis Hill, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.Interment will be at Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington.The funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Arlington, Iowa. Pastor Vernon W. Fasse, officiating. The organist was Mrs. Paul Schuchmann, Jr. The casketbearers were Terry Harper, Burt Youngblut, Bob Car-tano, Leroy Turner, Grover Squires and Harold Willis. Gleim Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.LESTER LEON COONFARE STRAWBERRY POINT (Special) - Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 7, for Lester Leon Coonfare, 78,Guttenberg, at the Feeney Funeral Home, Strawberry Point. Mr. Coonfare died Thursday, March 5, at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Manchester. Burial was in the Ross Cemetery, rural Strawberry Point. The Rev. Francis Shreve conducted the service.The son of Daniel and Adella Hines Coonfare, Lester Coonfarewas born June 20, 1891 at Strawberry Point where he lived the greater part of his life. He and Carrie Hines were married April 13, 1913 at Elkader.Survivors include his wife, four daughters.
