■ ✓ . * t-. - %*. *»f.Mrs. C E; PutmanI.*Passed On Suddenly1Catherine Elizabeth Keniaon wasborn Mareh 7, 1868 in Jones County, Iowa, and passed away at Polk, Nebraska on March 6, 1931, at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 28 days.At the age of 8 she, with herparents, moved to Marshall County, Iowa, and they resided there and in Mills County for three years. In the spring of 1870 they moved to Seward County, Nebraska, and she lived there with the exception of the time spentin school at Lincoln, until her marri age.She was one of the pioneer schoo) teachers of Polk County, having taught one term in the Hardy school and one term in the Cooper achool.On December 22, 1875, she was married to Horace Putman at York, Nebraska, and they went to housekeeping on his homestead four miles east, of where Polk, Nebr , now stands Here she went through the many hardships of pioneer life.To this union was born seven children, Rutherford B,t Nellie E, Mabel F.f Lucinda C.. Pearl M., H. Blaine and Lorance V.In March, 1895 they mourned the loss of their youngest son, Lorance, then 1 year of age, and five weeks later her husband passed on to that better land where they have awaited her coming.She stayed on the farm with her six remaining children and kept the hon^e together until the children werp grown.One sister, Rose Kenison Putman preceded her in death nine years ago, and one brother passed away in Infancy. Her parents also await her in that Better Land.In 1912 she moved to Polk where she has resided most of the timeT???1nlahoirItrI1r)9BiitiO'Itrsince.She was raised in a Christian home. At the age of 12 she was converted and baptized.In June of 1896 she joined the Methodist Episcopal church. Through whi.ch she worked for the extension of the Lord's Kingdom.' She proved faithful member, always ready to db the task that was given her. Her actiViiies in the church touched all its work.
