Sam Bean’s company of 69 mechanics left for Chattanooga last Wednesday. ‘Tax-payers will bear in mind that the time for paying taxes without subjecting themselves to a penalty, closes on the 19th last. A public sale will take place at the residence of Elisha Hudson, in Lima township, on Wednesday March 16th, at TO o'clock A. M., consisting of farming utensils, stock and grain. ‘The ‘social hop,” on Tuesday even ing last, given in honor of the Chattanoo ga boys, was the most spirited affair of the season. The boys “danced all night until broad-day light,” and left for Dixie in the morning. ‘The Commissioners have been in session during the week. Their ‘business has been confined princi pally to settling county affairs. It was Peter Brough, of col, 88th regiment, who was severely wounded at the battle of Tunnel Hill, and not Peter B. Lowe, as telegraphed. Morrison Co’s hardware store and the post-office, at Lima, were destroyed by fire last Thurs day night, together with all their contents. No particulars given. Today we publish Gov. At a meeting held in Hubbard's Hall ‘on Tuesday evening, March 1st, for the ‘purpose of organizing a Soldiers’ Aid So ciety, the following officers were appoint ed: Mrs. Askey, President; Mrs. Kra mar, Vice President; M. J. Menelaus, Secretary; Mrs. Hubbard, Treasurer. By common consent those present were appointed a soliciting committee to ob tain fruit, pickles and other necessaries for the soldiers. M. J. It contains large and splendid plots of all the principal cities in the United States. It needs to been seen to be appreciated.
