When the firstII call was made for volunteers in Missouri,| | ^i. I sent out three sdns, and after they re-:'III turned home and rested awhile, they allj* 11 volunteered for three tears. Archie left!'in July for the seat of war, in Missouri ; 1 and ufter marching all over the southwestern part of the State, his regiment took up winter quarters at Canto Holt, f Kv., where lie sickened and di d—on theie loth day ol January. 1 had his remains taken up and buried, at Itmue. In October, William and Bennett joined that no’ ted regiment, called “ Burgis’ Sharp Shoot ojers. They were in the battle at Zion Meeting House, Mo. Afterwards, they marched to Tennessee, and participated • I in the battles of Forts Henry and Donel' son; and came out unscathed.
