Wilson when nftea some remarks aLC|h Charles Lewis, E*q. and Capt. 0. W, Srnqh, who announced themselves as candidates for the Clerkship of the Circuit nLl' Court. Charles B. Lewis, Esq., mole a ,ct* lengthy speech against the propriety ol c h* Idingdi convention, and was replied to ,u'd by Col. Wilsao, in favor of ilie organisalion of the Democratic paity in the ap-' proaching election, when, upon motion of Col. Wilson, Byron J. Basse!, Eq,, was nominated and chosen President, and Jas M. Jackson, Esq , was nominated and chosen as Secretary ol the meeting.The following resolu ion, offered by Ool. Wilson, was carried unanimously, with the exception of one voio.Jiesolved, That the Democrats of Her* moo county be respacilully requested to meet at their several places of voting insaid county, on Thursday the $S?J any ofApril next, to vote for and nominate can-didates for the various offices to be filled at the ensuing spring election, and that after so doing, they appoint one or more persons to attend at Clarksburg on the 24th of April, to compare said votes, andthat such persons as shall receive the largest number of votes shall be declared the Democratic candidates for said of* [ices.On motion, the meei:og adjourned.BYRON J.
