certainly wi do something here. Raise the money, let some individual send for the books, and present them to the library, end the task isdone. You need not think that the books will be fast, and the library be useless, it will non pass into the hands of the Auditor, Clerk and Recorder, and we hope that they will manage it correctly. The Clerk, especi ally, is posted up in everything, from Rollin down to the last Harper that has been isaned, and he will know how to take care of Books. Your Auditor and Recorder are well known as coed, careful, business men. hey will take care of the library. They will manage the books, if you will open your heart and purse, and help buy them. ‘The average cost of books will be about a dollar per volume. Seventy-five dolars annually appropriated by the county Board, together with lberal dona tions from the citizens, would soon make a good library; and nto effect on society would soon be seen. Who will act? Will the County Board appropriate the amount which the law says they may appropriate ? We have heard (we lo,¢ that we ' ve been misinfom ed) that some of them are acquiring the rep utation of being penurious, liberality in appropriations give the tie to the open hear ted generosity of the county. Time will re veal what you and the County Commissioners will do in the premises. M.
