Thetwo other men—Avy McCrackenand Earl Hendren heard it, butdidn’t see it.Browne said the object appeared to be about two feet long and about four inches in diameter and had a cone shaped nose. It was dark gray in color and was flying at h speed estima-ed at about 200 miles per hours. Because of the rain and fogon the mountainside, the objectquickly flew out of sight.“I heard a heck of a racket and looked up and caught a glimpse of the flying object,” Browne said Tuesday. “It wasflying just above the tree tops and was headed for a huge yellow pine, which towered above the other trees. Just before it reached the yellow pine, it swerved slightly to miss the tree and then quickly melted into the fog.”The five men were taking a brief rest when they heard the object.
