Suneagles, the new country, club, house ,onco Phillips's place at Eatontown, has arrived at_a point’ in its. construction: where it, is: be ginning to.look like. a, completed, building, it is on the south side of: the Tinton Falls ‘road, about half a mile northwest of Eatontown. cen ter. Although it: is a considerable distance back from. the road it cov ers such a large area that its form and outline make it readily recog nizable to the passing traveler. The building will cost $260,000. Mr. Phillips hopes to have it com pleted May 80th and to have the clubhouse and golf ‘grounds ‘ready for use at that time. The clubhouse has been under construction since last fall. Adverse weather has’ de~ layed, the work greatly. “At the present time 48 mechanics are work ing on the clubhouse. After the weather becomes more settled it is planned to increase the number to 120. At the same time this work is going up an eighteen-hole golf course covering 160 acres and em bracing three lakes is under con struction. A number of men and teams are on this job and it is planned to’ increase’ the force «when the weather becomes more favor able. , The work on the golf ‘course and other work being done on the grounds will cost $260,000, which with the cost of the new clubhouse, makes the total expense ‘half a mil lion dollars. The new clubhouse is ‘wider than it is long, covering a space 180x140 feet. It ‘will be of the English.co lonial type, with a Spanish tile,roof In’ eight: colors. It will be three ‘stories : highs . The main room of the first story will be the great hall’ or reception hall. Tt still be 32x66 feet, with a fireplace ,ten feet wide, patterned after, the fireplaces of ancient ho tels.... The , dining’room will be 36x45 feet. There will be a dance hall and games room, 24x46 feet, ‘With locker accommodations, Polo will be one of the principal features of the club and there will be a room for the.special. use of polo.players, With shower baths and lockers. The Kitchen will be 28x40 feet. Also on the ‘first floor will be 2-profes sional “shop, attendants’ ‘offices, showers and toilets. ‘33.02. On the second floor will be seven elaborate _ bedrooms, each with a Wash. :room and” bathroom with showers... The main..room .on the second floor will be. 22x60 feet and withd.tér. the use of Nomen. The third story “will be a dormitory, 36x56 feet. To the basement will be a, “billiard and grill room, 80x30 ‘feet, a rocker room, 24x64 feet,’ three’ dining room; for employees, an jee-making plant, stem heating plant and toilets. The clubhouse is being built by the L.M. Neckermann company of New York. J. H. Muller is superin tendent of the work. He intends making “His home in this section. The construction of the golf course is in charge of R. J. Sargant.The architect for the clubhouse is Hustes B. Simonson of New York. Surrounding the clubhouse are 1,000 acres of land owned by Mr. Phillips and all of this will be used by the club. A short distance in the year of the clubhouse is a pic turesque piece of woodlands which will be developed into restricted home sites for club members. Streets will be cut through the woods and other improvements will be made. It is expected that sev eral houses will be built this spring on this tract. _ With the advent of spring appli cations for club membership are in creasing. There is a possibility that more trains will stop at Eatontown because of the establishment of the clubhouse there. The Eatontown station is only about an eighth of a mile from the clubhouse.
