Watuous Items.DfThe sporting club of Watrous had a meeting the other day for the purpose of witnessing a foot racing the fool race was run between Mr. Frank Carpenter,of Cherry Valley, and Willi* Haim. Some money changed hands on the occasion for the losing man Frank Carpenter, was heavily hacked. The second race and which event was looked forward to by ranch of tho crowd with great interest was between Judge Wood-bery and Col. Wood burn was a distance of four hundred yards. Tho judge got a good Htart, and was in a fair way of reaching tho goal ahead of his competitor, when ho unfortunately stopped to pick up a quid of tobacco, which lie dropped, thus allowing the colonel to got ahead which ho kept to the finish. Several of tho minor events kept up the interest of crowd for some time.Some of tho Gun club are practicing shooting pigeons every morning around town.Judge Woodbury has taken possession of the Carpenter residence, which he lately purchased and is refurnishing it prior to his coming marriage.The wife of H. D. Reinkin has returned from a visit to her sister, looking if possible, more beautiful than ever.M. Isaac Carpenter and family left on Sunday evening’s train for their new home in Oregon.Sir Edwin Dacy, Hart, lately from England, is spending a few days with Dr. Priug.M. Henry Weber and wife leavo on Saturday for St. Louis where they will spend a few weeks with their raarri'' daughter.The Watrous hotel is to be enlarged immediately. A two-story addition is contemplated, which when finished will make it one of the finest and most roomy houses in the territory. Rax.
