Death of Nathan Aldrich.o»e.cc~ Is of r ;r m le e-fcyrdselirethiduts-in11,m.veutofMr. Aldrich died last Friday about 2 o’clock r. m., of a lingering illness.' He was one of the early setters of this city, having removed here in the spring of 1835 with his family, and engaged in the cabinet business for several years; thence entered into the mercantile business, in which he was engaged for some years. He quit this employment and went into the fur trade; his declining health prevented him from engaging in any active business since. He was an honest man and enjoyed the respect sand confidence of all that knew him., And was one of the first to organize a Sabbath school in this eitv. The writer re-•smembers him engaged in a Sabbath school held in the old brick seminary on the lot now occupied by Carter’s hardware store, in 1835, corner of Fourth and Market streets. He has always been engaged as superintendent dr teacher in the Sabbath school connected with the Presbyterian church of this city.Many young men and women now living can testify to his zeal in teaching the truths of the holy scriptures, and making the schojl interesting to those who desired to know more of Christ’s kingdom. He was a ruling elder for more than thirty years in the Presbyterian church, and an active and working member in the cause of Christ. His house was always open for the accommodation of ministers and good men who passed through the city. In company with the Rev. Mr. Post, he traveled a great deal In organizing churches and attending religious meetings and presbyteries in connection with the Presbyterian church.
