Resolved, that the township commit tee be, and they are hereby, authorized to loan, by notes or bonds, bearing le gal interest, an amount of money sufi cient to pay an increased bounty in ad dition to the two hundred dollars au thorized by the special town meeting held on the Sunday of December, 1863, of one hundred and ffty dollars for each volunteer necessary to fill the dives ta of the township as it now stands. For the poor, and for wage and means eleven hundred dollars. The above ticket was elected almost without opposition, with the exception of Township Superintendent. Here the fight was sharp, and the result glorious, i n SoH. Shreve, Esq., was elected over 5. T. Locke by over sixty majority, in a small vote of about two hundred and forty. It is one of the best commentaries yet exhibted, upon the good sense and intelligence of Dover, that a gentleman so upright and intelligent, and so fine a scholar as Mr. Shreve, is elected to this office. We lartly congratulate the township upon its choice. We are more firmly than ever a believer in the good old doctrine of a “ Special Provi dence,” which protects and cares for the people, and saves them from pes tilence and plagues of all kinds. For, this special deliverance, some of our people have proposed, this morning, to send to Gov. Parker and request him to appoint a day of Special thanks giving. We hardly think this will be done, but should it be thought least, there would be fervent thanks offered, doubtless, and we should hope to be there. Col. Zabriskie, of the 9th Regiment, was presented with a beautiful sword by his friends in Jersey City on Satur day. The presentation took place at the residence of the father of the Colo nel, and was made by I. W. Scudder, Esq. Ihis expected that the 9th regi ment will return to the field this week or next.
