Mouse was waiting to go up so tYouth applications soughtApplications are being accepted for Muscatine Youth Conservation Corps (Y.C.C.) summer program sponsored by the State of Iowa Office for Planning and Programming with the cooperation of the Muscatine Community School District, local service clubs, industry, county and park commissions and many individuals,The Y.C.C. program provides youth from this area an opportunity to work and learn during the summer while continuing to live at home.Some of the projects for this summer will be continuing work on Eversmeyer's Pond on Orange Street, landscaping at the Muscatine High School, erosion control at Weed Park, and developing and maintaining wild animal habitats at Saulisbury Bridge Recreational area.The enrollees will earn $2.30 per hour for 30 hours of work they do; each week additional time will be used in order that the enrollees can participate in environmental activities.Requirements for membership:1. Be 15 years old, but not 19 at the time of enrollment.2. Be a permanent resident of Iowa,3. Be able to obtain parental or guardian consent.4. Be interested in working outdoors and becoming involved in the development and maintenance of Iowa's environment.5. Be free of any serious criminal charges and have no background of anti-social behavior.6. Be physically qualified to participate in all Y.C.C. projects and physical training.?. Be able to obtain a work permit required under the laws of the State of Iowa.fi. This will provide an opportunity for any youths in the State of Iowa to participate as a Y.C.C. member. Fifty-two youths will be chosen on a random basis by the state.The corps members will work on state-owned property near the camp location. The members will live at the Y.M.C.A.
