Negro FiBy NANK WILSON“Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation of him also shall the Son oxMan be ashamed when he cometh in the glory of llis Father with the holy angels/'—Mark 8:38.If there is any group of people who can be given credit for frankness and fighting in the open, it is the Negro race. He takes nopart in cliques and clans. During the Civil War when his owner wason the battlefields fighting to keep him in chains, the Negro stayed home and remained true to those trusted to his care. He made crops, fed the family oi his master, protected the home, the children, the virtue and sanctity of the fireside. No criminal violencewas brought against him tiiusly engaged. He did nothing thatbrought suspicion upon his loyalpatriotic name.-The Negro has always fought in the open. It is true during the Civil Wr wncrSherman marched through Georgia, thousands of loyal Negroslaves joined him and fought throughout the war for their ownemancipation. He always fought in the open. The black slave used cynicism, coercion, common sense, still he fought in the open.Every man, woman anti child that has been genuinely and truly converted ought to conie out in the open and confess Jesus and not be ashamed of Him. If we are ashamed of Him before men, He will be ashamed of us before His Father in heaven. When Clmist was in the world He said: “I an; the light of the world,” and iet His light shine all over the world. When He finished His work onCalvary and went to His Father,He said, “Ye are the light of the world, we ought to let our light shine and glorify the Father which is in heaven. Are we ashamed to confess Christ before men, if so, why? Do we discuss baseball, football, movies, prize fights, foreign wars, radio stars, and never nam^ the name of Jesus? Are we ashamed of our Lord and Master, if not, why not tell others about the marvelous things done for us? Do we feci ashamed of Jesus and think we can lake vengeance on our fellowmen and insult God and high heaven by liaving jira crow elevators in office buildings, discrimination and segregation in City Hall, County Courthouse, pubic carriers, public comfort stations, churches, schools, and hemes every where? There are many good reasons to make theMaster ashamed of us before liisFather in heaven.“Woe unto them that call evilgood, and good evil and that put darkness for light and light for darkness, that put bitter forsweet and sweet for bitter. Woeunto them that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight.” Isaiah 5:20-21. Let’s not impugn God’s motives for giving men foresight to write the HolyBible. This inspiration is the activity of God in the minds of men, Who wrote the Bible. We wish to thank the following business, religious and professional den of our group subscribers andIn Opendaily readers of The Atlanta Daily World for their words of praise j and commendation of our column, j Many thanks for being able to command the attention of these outstanding men of prominence: Bishop J. 8.
