_ arti cl o;%aa !pre paredboforethe successful negotiation for ..the a pGedy.. construction of the road, effectod Dy Mn White and Mr. Hamilton, wae known here. ' Although somewhat out of date, we have concluded to in* sert it, nevertheless.Wabash Valley Hall Road.About oine months have elapsed since the company was organized for the construction ofthis road in Indiana, and as yet but little has been done towards it. Who is to blame for the delay or negligence, if either has existed, we are unaVie to say ; but certain it is, that uneasi Cess in regard to the matter is beginning to manifest itself in certain quarters. The Sentinel of a week or two back, had the following article, which amid much complaint, mingles some promise :*A Hamilton, Esq., one of the directors of this company, leit hereon Thursday for Now York, for the purpose of moeting a company of competent capitalists who offer to construct the entire work, furnishing the rails, rolling machinery fee. Similar offers we understand have been *mado by two or three different companies.Wo hopo the arrangement may bo eonsuma-ted, and the work pushed ahead. This road has not been managed with the vigor, which we had expected, after witnessing the Bpirited demonstration made in its favor at the LogansportConvention. The consequence has been that a rival route, along the valley of Eel River, has been fostered, and will, unless a different course be pursued by the Wabash Valley Company, soon lake the lead of it. The effects of this must be highly detrimental to the prospects of the Company, and fatal to the towns on the up per Wabash, the best part of whose trade would bo cut off by the Eel River Road.Whether through design or inefficiency wo will not undertake to decide, but the management of the Wabash Valley Company so far has been highly prejudicial to the interests of this part of tho liue, and has impaired the confidence of our citizens by awakening suspicions of the designs of its officers. If an early and vigorous prosecution of tho work had been made we do not behove tho Eel Rivor Valley project oould ever have been consummated; that it will now, and will even take the load of tho VVabaeh Road, there is overy reason to apprehend, from tho marked contrast shown by the vigor and energy of its friends contrasted with the dull, lethargic course of the officers of the Wabash lino. An infusion of new life into this latter company, by a chango in its management, at tho next annual mooting of the stock holders, is highly os-sontial to tho prospects of tho road.
