Democratic A—eclatiea.0OAt the first regular meeting of the Association, held at the office of the Indiana Statesman, on Monday j evening, the 4th inst., Mr. Peter Saltzuan was appointed Chairman pro tern, and E. T. Cox, Secretary.The Constitution adopted at the previous meeting having been read, was signed by the members present.The Association then proceeded to the election of officers for the ensuing three months, when the following persons were chosen:WILLIAM COX, Esq. President. EDWARD T. COX, Secretary,It was then, on motion,Resolvedr, That a Committee of Five be appointed to act as a Central Committee for this part of the county during the ensuing campaign.Whereupon the meeting appointedthe following persons said Committee:JAMES SAMPSON.URBANE WILLIAMS. ROBERT WILSON, WILLIAM COX, Esq.ALEX’R BURNS, Jr.It was then, on motion,Resolved, That subscription papers be drawn up and circulated throughout the county, for the purpose of aiding in defraying the expenses of Col. J. Abuthnot, of Gibson, as Delegate to the Baltimore Convention.On motion,Resolved, That none but membersV*be admitted to the meetings of the Association; and that a Sergeant-at-Arms be appointed to carry this resolution into effect.Mr. John Mills was then chosen for said office.On motion, the Central Committee were instructed to wait on Col. Wm. Casey, and solicit him to become a candidate for Representative at the ensuing August election.A large number of persons were proposed as members of the Association ; to be decided upon at the next meeting.After the transaction of some unimportant business, it wasResohedy That the proceedings of this Association be published in the Indiana Statesman.The Association then adjourned until Monday evening, the 18th inst.WILLIAM COX, Prcs't.Edward T.
