Ferris funeralThe funeral of Manuel Francis Ferris Sr., of 77 Pope Street, Newport, husband of Roselind Theresa (Benevides) Ferris, took place, Wednesday, February 22, 2006, from the Memorial Funeral Home. 375 Broadway Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lucy’s Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. Richard Walsh, Chaplain of the St. Clare Home, Spring Street, Newport, and was assisted by Deacon John Croy. The Altar Servers were Ed Meyer and Maria Carroll. The organist was Florence Oliveira. The Resurrection Choir sang at the Mass. The First Reading was read by grandson in law Joshua King. The Second Reading was read by friend Colleen Chesson. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by friend Mario Ferreira. The Offertory Gifts were presented by granddaughter Dena King, grandson Bryan Ferris, and daughter in law Gena Ferris. A reflection was given by grandson Bryan Ferris. Burial took place in Newport Memorial Park, where Deacon Croy conducted the committal prayers in the chapel. Casket bearers were grandson Bryan Ferris, grandson in law Joshua King, nephew James “Buzzy” Ferris and friends Salvatore Raffa, John DeSantis and Mario Ferreira.
