GREYHOUND RACING COMES TO CBIn approximately a year the exciting sport of Greyhound Racing will begin in Council Bluffs making this community the recreational hub of Southwest Iowa.“We hope to have thousands of members to assist in bringing this growing sport to our area”, said Georgia Sievers of Avoca, Chairperson of the Membership Committee of the Iowa West RacingAssociation,A two-month drive will Kickoff March 7th for the 1985 Charter Campaign. The cost is $25 for the annual membership.There's a certain prestige to being a Charter member of most organizations, and we particularly feel this will be the case for Iowa West membership” said Sievers. “Down the road when the track is annually bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors to our community and surpluss revenues are being utilized throughout the County, a Charter Member can proudly share in the success.”Sievers stated, “specifically the drive will provide financial resources to support the administrative office during construction and preopening activities as well as provide a support base to maintain the tenets of the Iowa Pari-Mutuel Wagering Act and the license of the Iowa West Racing Association.”“Following the Charter year, and with the track opening in 1986, subsequent memberships will provide a benefit package”, stated Stan Duysen, Executive Director of Iowa West.Application form appears elsewhere in the paper.Other members of the Committee are, John Nelson, Bluffs Insurance executive and President of Iowa West; Council Bluffs Mayor Tom Hanafan; and Dr. Max E.
