Dr. McClendonOf AmltoDins TuesdayDr. J. H. McClendon Sr.. 75, of Amite, died at the Baton Rouge General Hospital Tuesday at 6:58 p.m. He was a general practitioner of medicine at Amite for over a half-century and built Tangipahoa Parish's first clinic, the Amite clinic, in 1931.Dr. McClendon has been a member of the parish. Sixth Congressional District and Demo-cratic Slate Central committees for nearly 40 years.The local chaper of the junior Chamber of Commerce selected him Amue's Man of the Year in 1960.He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bessie Riley McClendon; two sons. Dr. j. H. McClendon Jr., and Robert Spec*’ McClendon, both of Amite; and four grandchildren.
