V ......- ■SOUTHWEST CHAMPIONSN. A. T. C. Lumberjacks—Basketball champions of the Southwest. How does that sound to the students and boosters of the College? It is a reputation that very seldom comes to a college the size of N. A. T. C.Never before in the history of the College has any casaba team brought as moch glory and prominence to the College. Winning seventeen out of the twenty games played in the most strenuous campaign known to N, A. T. C.f the boys made a record that no other college in the states of Arizona and New Mexico could duplicate. Other teams in the two states, envious of Flagstaff's record, have placed their claims to the championship, but University of New Mexico Is the only one whose record will near that of our boys, and Flagstaff has defeated them in two games to establish themselves as champions. The unlimited time and effort our boys have put forth is the outstanding cause for their signal spccess. During the season many discouraging problems have had to be met, yet our boys struggled onward allowing nothing to discourage them in the uphill fight. Sacrifices in time and money have had to be made, yet their loyalty to the school stood evefy test.We are proud of our team and speak for the whole College in saying that individual efforts and sacrifices on the part of the boys are largely responsbile for the record they have made the past season, for which we can do nothing less than praise and glorify them.Hubert Detloff, center; Clarence Schlansky, Jack W ilson and Lee Patton, forwards; and Roy Kilt;yen and Leslie McClure, guards, are the men whose names should go down in the history of the College as the first southwestern Championship players in its history.
